Everytime I watch this video, I end up in tears.
I can't stand here with You, and not be moved by You.
i'm looking at my christmas wishlist and i can't help but feel disgusted at my materialistic needs. as Ps Alvin said during camp, we don't know just how grossly materialistic we are till we compare ourselves with the less fortunate.
after all, christmas isn't just about the presents and the good food and the fun. i've got the greatest gift to have ever been given, and that's salvation in the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
have a good holiday, y'all.

3 days to Christmas :)
I love this time of the year. The Christmas songs (Jason Mraz is awesome btw), Christmas cheer, Orchard road lighting, Parties, Dressing up, Food, Candles, Christmas cards (more of a card person than a gift person)... Christmas/baby Jesus ftw!
& unlike past years, I know what I want for Christmas this year: His Peace. Could use a lot of that. It's like i'm waging a mind war every day; trying to fend off those negative thoughts and fears. Pastor Lewis reminded us that Christmas represents God's everlasting peace; the birth of Jesus; Salvation. & I guess I really need that this year.
( DRINK, EAT, MAKE MERRY )

I'm back, after a long hiatus away at another online diary. I guess I really needed a break from everything and everyone, especially with the lot of drama going on in my life at that point in time. Now that things are alot better I figured I'd come back cos... strangely enough, I write better at lj. Not significantly better or anything, but my thoughts seem more... coherent. Mm.
Anyway, Dr. Freddy Boey preached about the Holy Spirit at camp. He said that there are 4 images that represent it. The first is the dove, followed by fire, wind, and finally, Jesus Christ.
At the end of camp, after camp comm cleared out of the ops room, we stood at the porch of the Singapore Sports School waiting for the church van to come by to send us back to church. And the sky then was of a radiant shade of blue. Quite a refreshing sight in comparison to the 3 days of rain we'd previously experienced. All of a sudden, out of the stillness of the humid Singaporean atmosphere, the wind blew, really really hard, and a cool refreshing wind engulfed my entire being. It was only for a while before it died down and all was still again.
Call me hypersensitive, crazy, whatever you will - but at that very moment I knew it was God. It was God in the wind, caressing me and telling me that He was happy with the work that the camp comm has done, and that He would always be around, in our hearts.
What can I say? I love my God.

Most of us went to YM camp expecting to meet God in a mind-blowing manner, I'm sure we were expecting an altar call with alot of crying and slaining of the spirit. But camp was, for lackthereof a better word, different, this year. Many youths were probably puzzled and disappointed at how there was no emotional hype to set the mood for the presence of the Holy Spirit, and were also probably struggling to seek God in the stark silence that flooded the auditorium.
I suppose it's because most of us think of silence as a void that we constantly need to fill up - whether it be the silence that is interpreted as awkwardness between friends, or the silence in the vivacity of our lives that make us want to go out and seek certain kinds of entertainment to replace the silence. And because of that we don't know how to find God, because we're expecting that silence is necessarily awkward, we conclude that the absence of any form of noise would not make the arrival of the Holy Spirit possible.
But time, and time again, we forget that the Lord is the Almighty, and the Most High, and that He can make anything happen at will. And I think that God has been very gracious to us by teaching us this important lesson, that we should not place expectations on how the Lord will come to us, and we shouldn't limit the Holy Spirit's ability to work in our lives under any situation. God is God, and we are not.
